As soon as i plugged it in the refrigerator started cooling off. It does make a small humming noise but with the hetic schedule of my lifde being in college I barely notice it in fact it is now a soothing noise to me because I know that my food items will remain cool and fresh for me to eat. I would recommend this product to any and everyone I know. It comes with a nice size freezer part that I store my frozen snacks and believe me I tested it if you like the frozen dinners or hot pockets you can fit about 4 to 5 boxes in that fridge with room to spare for ice cream.
